Senior Review

At adult level our seniors played Fenians in an Alyward cup tie losing narrowly 0-14 to 1-08. The juniors were in championship action against neighbours St Martin’s. This proved a tight encounter with the visitors securing a share of the spoils, taking advantage of a strong breeze in the closing period. Comer fielded a young side and were repaid with a number of encouraging performances throughout the field.

Under 8’s news.

Our Under 8’s took part in a 10 aside go games blitz in Dicksboro on Sat 19th. They won their 3 matches in the group stages beating Danesfort, Ballyhale and Dicksboro B. They then went onto to play the Dicksboro A team for their final match of the day. In a very close match our lads showed great determination and skill to run out winners by 3 scores to 2. Hat-trick hero Jamie Maher collected the medals on behalf of the team from Cha Fitzpatrick. Thanks to the Dicksboro club for organising a great days sport. Well done to the players, Kevin Holland, Lee Holden, Jamie Maher, Darragh O’Rourke, Kevin Smyth, Jack Brennan, Justin Brennan, Cathal O’Reilly, Shane Coogan, Luca Downey, Ashley Kerr, Ciaran Meagher, Adam Stone, Liam Doyle and Brian Holland and thanks to Christopher Korff for keeping the water flowing.
16 of our under 8’s helped out by 4 of our under 6’s played two 10 aside challenge matches on Thursday evening in Ballycomey against the Blacks and Whites. Each club won one of the matches. It is great see that the practice and training over the winter and spring can be seen in the improvement in all our young players. As well as those who played in Dicksboro there was great hurling from James Hogan, Michael Rowe, Sarah Smyth, James Kenny, John Kenny, Euan Connery and Kevin Brennan.
