U21’s in County Final

Erin’s Own qualified for the U21 county final after a tense finish to a truly wonderful game of Hurling with a 2 point victory over Clara in Freshford. Both sides started slow but Comer went 2 points up mid way through the first half. Clara struck back with a goal and they added a couple of points to take a 4 point lead. Comer came back strong towards the end of the half and went in at half time following a fantastic goal by Martin Hawley. The second half started like the fitst finished with Comer well on top and they built their lead to 9 points helped by an Anthony Kavanagh goal. Clara started a comeback point by point bringing Comer’s lead right down to the minimum with 5 mins to go. Comer picked up the pace again to notch on 2 points and Clara taking one to leave 2 points between the sides at the finish.

This was Erin’s Own’s first Northern Final victory since 2006 so let’s hope the conclusion to 2010 is better than that year. Well done to al involved in a great team performance.

The final takes place in Nowlan Park on Saturday 27th Nov at 2pm.

There will be a meal in the Golf Club afterwards.

The very best of luck to all involved and everyone’s support is welcome.

The second half saw  Ballyragget fight back and work hard to get to a point behind but could never bridge the gap. Comer finished strongest with points from Michael Murphy, a couple from Stephen Daly and one from Brian Dillon.
