Erin’s Own brought 23 young hurlers to Coon on Thursday evening. As St Martins had similar numbers each club fielded two teams so everyone played a full 40 minutes of hurling. Both games were very competitive with Erins Own winning the first game by a point with excellent play by James and John Kenny and great defending by Dylan, Ewan and Katie Clarke. Panel: Ciara Brennan, James Kenny, Kiel Smyth, Alan Smyth, John Kenny, Katie Clarke, Ewan Connery, David Allen, Michael Rowe, Joe Rowe and Dylan Stynes Leigh.
In the second game a strong defence and a bit of luck kept St Martin’s to one score with Brian Holland, Adam Stone and Luca Downey starring in full back line. The midfield was a great battle with Shane Coogan and Liam Doyle keeping a good share of ball into our forwards who led by a terrier like James Hogan saw goals for Jack, Ciaran, Cathal, James and Sarah. Highlight of the game was two exceptional points from play by Ashley Kerr one from each sideline.
