Erin’s Own v Dicksboro Junior League 27.05.2012

Erins Own entertained Dicksboro in the Junior league on Sunday last in
Ballycomey. Both teams were short some regular players due to exams. The
first quarter was even throughout with points coming from play and frees.
At the break Comer held a two point lead on a shoreline of 10 points to 8.
Early in the second half the city lads scored a goal and a point in quick
succession to take a 2 point lead. Try as the may the comer lads couldn’t

create a number of good chances. In the end the fitter Dicksboro ran out
comfortable winners on a shoreline of 2-15 to 0- 12. Team. E.Meally,

UNDER 10 GO GAMES.
Our under 10s entertained O Loughlin Gaels in the 3rd round of the county Go

two teams playing with the emphasis on fun and participation with all
players playing and no subs. There was a fantastic sprinkling of skill and
endeavour shown by all the players in the two games with quality striking
and score getting in abundance. Team blue for Erin’s Own had a fantastic
battle with their city rivals with only a couple of scores separating the
teams at the final whistle. The same result befell the Erin’s Own White team
also. With great coaching work going on at all levels in the club the future
certainly looks bright and with the great enjoyment that the children get

Saturday were. Luca Downey, Darragh O Rourke, Dylan Leigh, Brian Holland,

U8 first hurling match Sat 19th May 2012

Under 8s

On Saturday morning last the next new generation of hurlers to represent our
club took to the field for their maiden under 8 match in the club colours
when Erin’s Own entertained near neighbours St Martins in two mini games in
Ballycomey. With enormous enthusiasm being shown by all players from both
teams the skill level displayed by the Erin’s Own players was magnificent as
the ball was moved up and down the field at a furious pace. With all players
having game time and not sideline time this is definitely the way to go and
the smiles on all the boys and girls at the finish shows that these new
recruits just want to play hurling. For the record but not that important
Our blue team won 7-1 to 1-1 and our white team won 5-1 to 6-0. At the end
there was ten minutes of football played with the St Martin’s just getting
the better of us. And so begins one of the longest apprenticeships in sport.
Well done to all and keep up the practice every Thursday at 6.30pm. Team

Alan Smyth, David Allen, Ewan Connery, James Kenny, John Kenny, Kiel Smyth,
Michael Rowe, Michael Brennan, Shane Holden, Katie Clarke.
