Clara 0-14 Erin’s Own 0-11 – Senior Qtr Final

Comer senior team came up short in their senior quarter final today having being unable to convert enough scores in a tight match in Freshford. As the scoreline suggests, the defences were on top and scores were hard earned on both sides. Comer started well with a brace of points but Clara then took control and scored 6 unanswered points. Comer finished the half well to go in 2 points down. The second half was the same as the first and even though Clara maintained their lead, the Comermen nearly snatched a draw with a shot off the crossbar near the end of the game. Unfortunately they fell short and it is Clara who advance to the semi finals.

U14 Roinn B county champions 2013

Erin’s Own 3-15
Glenmore 3-8

Erin’s Own proved to be worthy winners of the County Final after an excellent team performance throughout. Leading by 7 points at half time it looked like they were going to cruise to the end but a determined Glenmore we’re not going away and converted a hatrick of goals to completely change around the scoreline. From there to the end Comer gradually took over and scored 1-8 to 0-1 to become winners of this title for the first time in 35 years.

Congratulations to all involved

Minor team bow out

Comer minors bowed out of the championship following after losing to a stronger Dicksboro side last evening on a score line of 2-12 to 0-10. It was a very even and tight first half with Comer leading for a good while until Dicksboro scored from a broken ball with a fine ground stroke to the net. The comer half back line remained on top to the end of the half but went in behind to a shoreline of 1-6 to 0-7. Again an even first 10 mins with no-one taking over but the final 15 mins of the game the ‘Boro stepped on the gas and started pointing followed up by a second goal to end the game. I was a decent performance by Comer but they will be disappointed in the end. Well done to all players and management for their effort.

Sean Buggy played on the North Kilkenny u-15 team which won the Michael Foley inter county tournament in Wexford. Sean had a very good tournament culminating in an excellent performance in the final against Dublin North.

John Dowd, Ross Connolly and Eoin O’Rourke were all part of the U-14 squad that went on and won the Sonny Walsh tournament beating Waterford in the Final and all acquitting themselves very well throughout the day’s hurling.
