Erin’s Own U15 team ran out winners of a high calibre tournament held by Ballyboden St Enda’s in memory of Cian Durkin, a young playing member who sadly passed away from illness. Comer’s first match pitted them against Mallow from Cork. A great start to this match allowed the comer lads to keep mallow at a steady distance as the went on to win by 8 points. They only had 15 mins to turnaround for the second match versus Toomevara from Tipperary. This was their best game and settled in right from the off and went on to win comfortably in the end by 15 points. Comer had qualified for the final against the hosts who had earlier seen off Oulart the Ballagh from Wexford and Ballygunner from Waterford.
The final proved to be a very tight encounter and defences won the day here as the scoreline would suggest but the difference in the end was Comer’s ability to take their scores from placed balls and play against the hosts inability to do so when under pressure when attempting their shots.
As opposed to naming anyone in particular this was an excellent all round performance by all 19 players who travelled and they are all a huge credit to their club and also only the second Kilkenny team to win this prestigious tournament.
