It took a combined 200 years to bring these giants of sport together in a match that carried a mix of All Ireland medal winners throughout the teams – and what a match we were entertained with. It was a quality game that you would be unlikely to see anywhere – literally! A bumper crowd turned up for the celebration night. It began with the Golf match where the Hurling Club came up trumps over the Golf club. This was just a warm up to the big event – The over 50 (age and weight in some cases) game. It was a tight game throughout and compliments to every player firstly for togging out and secondly for entertaining everyone on the 10th fairway. The fire brigade was on standby such was the volume of water being consumed. A great game followed with many great scores, misses (Gerry – you really need to practice the sideline!) and collisions – Tom and Jimmy comes to mind at the end. All there were fully entertained and followed into the night with a great BBQ and music. Well done to all for the hard work and imagination for putting such a unique event together.
