Anthony Owens responded with a point, before two Richie Power points, the first from play and the second from a 65. A Martin Boran free divided these scores, with Michael Rohan adding another point to his tally, indeed he was forced to retire from the action shortly afterwards with a shoulder injury, being replaced by Gerry Mulcahy. Carrickshock were in the ascendancy at this stage, but this was about to change.
