The annual Denis Brennan memorial cup and Nicholas Downey shield were contested in glorious sunshine in Ballycomey on Saturday. Six teams were in action with Dicksboro, James Stephens, Thomastown, Kilmacud Crokes, O’Loughlins joining the locals in providing a wonderful days hurling for all.
The standard of play was exceptional, with little dividing all sides. Dicksboro secured the Denis Brennan cup defeating city rivals James Stephens by the minimum in a thriller. Thomastown landed the Nicholas Downey shield following a narrow win over the ‘Comer boys.
Thanks to all who worked tirelessly to make the day a great success.
